Punjab Police, in collaboration with the Civil Administration, has launched a comprehensive campaign to combat stubble burning in the state. This initiative is in response to directives from the Supreme Court and Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to reduce stubble burning cases to zero.
DGP’s Leadership: DGP Gaurav Yadav has personally taken charge of reviewing the situation and has appointed Spl DGP Arpit Shukla as the Police Nodal Officer to monitor anti-stubble burning operations.
Multi-pronged Approach: Police teams and civil administration officials have been conducting joint tours in identified stubble burning hotspots, holding public awareness meetings, and organizing community interactions.

Legal Action and Penalties: Strict legal action has been taken against violators. FIRs have been registered in 874 cases, and penalties worth Rs. 10.55 lakh have been imposed. Red entries have also been made in the revenue records of 394 farmers.
Appeal to Farmers: Spl DGP Arpit Shukla urged farmers to cooperate and refrain from burning crop residue, emphasizing the detrimental effects on the environment and human health.
Enhanced Enforcement: Additional patrolling parties have been deployed, and flying squads are actively monitoring for instances of stubble burning.
