Punjab Police’s Success in Issuing Interpol Blue Corner Notice Against Majithia’s Aide Satta Hailed by AAP

Chandigarh, August 19

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) hailed the issuance of an Interpol Blue Corner Notice against Satta, a close aide of former minister Bikram Singh Majithia and an alleged drug smuggler, as a significant achievement for Punjab Police. AAP MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and senior journalist-turned-activist Baltej Pannu addressed a press conference in Chandigarh, emphasizing that the Mohali District Court’s rejection of Majithia’s bail plea proves the Vigilance Bureau acted on solid evidence, not political vendetta.

Dhaliwal dismissed claims by Shiromani Akali Dal leaders and some Congress members that Majithia’s arrest was politically motivated, stating, “The court’s decision has exposed their false narrative and confirmed that the Mann government’s actions are backed by concrete evidence.” He held the Akali Dal accountable for the widespread drug trade during their 2007–2017 rule, describing it as a period when a “sixth river” of drugs flowed through Punjab. Dhaliwal pointed out Majithia’s known associations with drug traffickers like Satta and Pindi, adding that the court’s ruling validates the strength of the evidence against him.

Highlighting Satta’s case, Dhaliwal revealed that Interpol’s Blue Corner Notice and India’s efforts to extradite him from Canada could trigger a major political upheaval in Punjab. “Once Satta is brought back, his revelations will expose the deep nexus between politicians and the drug mafia. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has made it clear that more big players will be brought to justice,” he said. Dhaliwal noted that Vigilance investigations have uncovered drug networks worth thousands of crores operating under political patronage, including ₹6,000 crore in illegal drug business and ₹540 crore in disproportionate assets amassed by Majithia during the Akali regime. He reaffirmed AAP’s commitment to making Punjab drug-free.

Baltej Pannu echoed Dhaliwal, stating, “Before 2007, Punjab was different. Between 2007 and 2017, crores were funneled into companies, and lavish 90-acre farmhouses were acquired. The court’s rejection of Majithia’s bail came after a thorough 10-day argument, not a brief hearing, proving the Vigilance acted on evidence, not vendetta.”

The AAP leaders described the court’s decision as a major victory for the Mann government and a strong rebuttal to accusations of political vendetta, underscoring their resolve to continue the fight against the drug menace in Punjab.
