Punjab Sends 7th Batch of School Principals to Singapore for Training

Chandigarh, February 2

The Punjab government is sending 36 school principals to Singapore for a five-day training program, continuing its efforts to improve school education standards in the state. This is the seventh batch of principals and education officers to participate in the Leadership Development Programme at Singapore’s Principal Academy, bringing the total number of trained educators to 234.

School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains stated that the program aims to create a positive ripple effect across Punjab’s educational landscape. An “International Education Affairs Cell (IEAC)” at the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) facilitates this international-level training for teachers, school heads, and administrators.

Eligibility criteria for the program include being under 53 years of age as of January 31, 2025, holding a valid Indian passport until at least September 2025, and having no pending charge sheets, inquiries, or criminal cases. Eligible candidates will then be evaluated based on merit, considering educational qualifications, experience, Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs), and awards.

The Singapore training program focuses on enhancing leadership and educational skills through workshops, seminars, and hands-on activities. Participants will learn about advanced teaching methodologies and educational practices used in Singapore’s high-standard schools.

Minister Bains emphasized that the program aims to foster continuous learning and improvement among principals, enabling them to implement innovative ideas and strategies in their schools. The program also promotes a collaborative learning environment, encouraging principals to share experiences and insights. The goal is to create a systemic impact, fostering cross-learning, increased motivation, and improved teaching-learning processes in Punjab’s schools.
