Punjab Shifts Focus to Secondary Healthcare After Aam Aadmi Clinic Success

New Delhi/Chandigarh, July 25:

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has lauded the success of Aam Aadmi Clinics (AACs) in delivering primary healthcare services to the state’s population. Addressing the 6th CII Northern Region Healthcare Summit in Gurugram, he announced the Punjab government’s next step: strengthening secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities.

With over 1.79 crore people benefiting from treatment or OPD services at 842 AACs, the state has successfully digitized its primary healthcare sector. The minister highlighted the role of IT in monitoring waterborne and communicable diseases, even in remote areas.

Dr. Singh emphasized the importance of the Farishtey scheme and Sadak Surakhiya Force in reducing road accident fatalities by 26%. He called upon private healthcare providers to contribute to society by offering free medical services to those in need.

The minister also stressed the significance of environmental health, asserting that a healthy society is contingent upon a healthy environment.

Several other officials, including Dr. Dharminder Nagar, Ms. Srimayee Chakraborty, and representatives from ABDM and NICS, were present at the summit.
