Punjab to Recruit 5,500 Home Guards to Strengthen Border Security and Curb Drug Smuggling

Chandigarh, April 24,
To fortify the second line of defense along Punjab’s over 500-kilometer border, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday approved the recruitment of 5,500 jawans for the Border Wing of the Punjab Home Guards.
The decision was finalized during a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister at his official residence. Citing the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, Mann emphasized the urgent need for a robust second line of defense to counter threats from hostile forces. The 5,500 jawans will be deployed across seven border districts to assist the Border Security Force (BSF), ensuring no infiltrators or smugglers evade the BSF’s vigilance at the international border.
