Punjab to Send Second Batch of Primary School Teachers to Finland for Training in March, Announces Bains

Chandigarh, January 22, 2025 — The Punjab Government is set to dispatch a second group of 72 primary school teachers to Finland for training in March, as announced by Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains during his visit to the School of Eminence in Phase 11, SAS Nagar (Mohali). Accompanying him were experts from the University of Turku, Finland.
Minister Bains highlighted that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with the University of Turku to facilitate this training. The three-week program comprises one week in Punjab, followed by two weeks in Finland.
Welcoming the Finnish experts—Mr. Ari Kioski, Mr. Joel, Ms. Mirjami Einola, and Ms. Sari Isokytö-Sinjoi—Minister Bains expressed gratitude for their collaboration in elevating the state’s educational standards. He emphasized that their insights would be instrumental in shaping the training curriculum and ensuring a fruitful exchange of knowledge.

The initiative aims to equip teachers with effective primary school teaching techniques, enabling them to adopt methods that make learning enjoyable and stress-free, thereby contributing to students’ overall development.
During the visit, National Awardee Art & Craft Teacher Gurpreet Singh Namdhari engaged the guests in creating a live painting of the Finnish flag outlined by the country’s map, showcasing the artistic talents of the students. The Finnish experts were impressed by the students’ skills.
The Education Minister also presented the experts with paintings made by the students as tokens of appreciation. The event was attended by Director of School Education Ms. Amaninder Kaur Brar, DEO Ginni Duggal, Principal of the School of Eminence Phase 11 Lovish Chawla, and other officials and staff members.
This collaboration underscores the Punjab Government’s commitment to enhancing educational quality through international partnerships, aiming to provide teachers with global exposure and innovative teaching methodologies.
