Punjab’s Mera Ghar, Mera Maan: Empowering Homeowners

Chandigarh/Tarn Taran, September 30
Punjab Cabinet Ministers Hardeep Mundian and S. Laljit Singh Bhullar inaugurated the “Mera Ghar, Mera Maan” scheme in Tarn Taran district, marking a historic step toward granting property ownership rights to residents within the Lal Lakeer (village residential land). The ministers distributed Property Cards to beneficiaries from 11 villages in the Tarn Taran constituency, enabling them to secure legal ownership of their land and property. The event was attended by Tarn Taran constituency in-charge Harmeet Singh Sandhu, Additional Deputy Commissioner  Rajdeep Singh Brar, SDM Tarn Taran Gurmeet Singh, District Revenue Officer Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, other dignitaries, and beneficiaries from various villages.

A Landmark Initiative

Addressing the gathering, Cabinet Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian described the day as historic, emphasizing that the scheme empowers residents by granting them legal ownership of their property. He stated that the “Mera Ghar, Mera Maan” initiative, launched under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, will usher in a revolutionary change across Punjab. The scheme, being implemented in mission mode, is set to cover the entire state by December 2026.

Mundian explained that the scheme targets residents within the Lal Lakeer—the designated residential areas of villages—ensuring they receive clear ownership rights. “The Property Card is a clear, digital, and official record of your land ownership,” he told beneficiaries, adding that it eliminates the need to prove ownership and serves as a guarantee for banking purposes, such as securing loans. The card also facilitates transparent property transactions, allowing beneficiaries to sell their land without fear or complications, assuring buyers of clear titles. This will end generational land disputes, ensuring future generations inherit undisputed property.

“This is not just a scheme but a commitment from the Punjab Government under CM Bhagwant Singh Mann to empower every citizen and make them self-reliant,” Mundian said, likening the Property Card to an “Aadhaar Card for your land” and a guarantee for future generations.

Commitment to Public Welfare

Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar highlighted the Punjab Government’s dedication to fulfilling its promises under CM Mann’s leadership. He noted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has delivered on its pre-election guarantees through various schemes and development projects aimed at the state’s all-round progress. The “Mera Ghar, Mera Maan” scheme will benefit thousands of families and lakhs of people across Punjab, providing them with economic security and dignity through property ownership.
