Punjab’s Remarkable Journey: 55,000 Jobs for Youth

  • Previous governments delayed job allocations, while current regime prioritizes immediate employment

  • Criticizes traditional leaders for neglecting Punjab’s interests

  • State government focuses on holistic development and quality education

Chandigarh, August 20

Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, Punjab has achieved a historic milestone by providing over 55,000 government jobs to youth within the first three years of the Aam Aadmi Party government’s tenure, as part of its ‘Mission Rozgar’ initiative to empower Punjabis.

Speaking at an event where appointment letters were handed to 271 newly recruited youth, Mann highlighted that unlike previous governments, which offered minimal jobs toward the end of their terms, his administration has prioritized employment from day one. He emphasized that these jobs were awarded purely on merit, reflecting the caliber of the youth, who had been overlooked by past regimes.

Mann urged the new recruits to serve with dedication, using their roles to uplift the needy and underprivileged. He expressed pride in the transparent, competitive recruitment process, ensuring fairness and rewarding talent. The Chief Minister envisioned these jobs as transformative, opening new avenues for the youth and contributing to Punjab’s socio-economic progress.

Criticizing traditional political parties, Mann accused them of neglecting quality education, noting that their leaders sent their children to elite schools while government institutions were reduced to mere mid-day meal centers. In contrast, his government has upgraded schools into Schools of Eminence, leading Punjab to rank first in the National Achievement Survey, surpassing Kerala. Notably, 848 government school students cleared the NEET exam, 265 passed JEE Mains, and 45 qualified for JEE Advanced. Mann stressed that education, not temporary benefits, is the key to eradicating poverty and social issues by improving living standards.

Reflecting on his entry into politics, Mann said he was compelled to act due to the exploitation of Punjab by previous regimes. He accused past leaders of prioritizing personal interests over the state’s welfare, leading to their rejection by the public. Mann reaffirmed his government’s commitment to Punjab’s development, working tirelessly based on public feedback to ensure inclusive growth.

Mann highlighted unprecedented progress across sectors like education, health, power, and employment over the past three years, driven by the government’s clear intent to serve with dedication and integrity. He assured continued efforts to safeguard Punjab’s interests and involve citizens in the state’s socio-economic advancement.

Cabinet Ministers Harjot Bains and Dr. Ravjot Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Tejveer Singh, Secretary Education Anindita Mitra, and others attended the event.
