Punjab’s Strategic Response to Flood Crisis: 1,700 Officers Deployed

To strengthen the monitoring of rescue and relief operations in flood-hit villages across Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant  Mann on Thursday directed the deployment of a gazetted officer in each marooned village to supervise the efforts.

The Chief Minister emphasized that assigning a gazetted officer to every flood-affected village will facilitate direct communication between the administration and the residents. This measure will allow people impacted by the natural disaster to report their concerns promptly, ensuring swift and effective solutions. Mann noted that, as of Thursday, approximately 1,698 villages across 23 districts have been inundated, affecting over 3.80 lakh people in the state.

Mann further stated that extensive relief and rescue operations are already underway in the flood-affected areas to ensure residents face no hardships. He highlighted the state government’s focus on providing comprehensive relief to minimize inconvenience for those impacted. The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the well-being of the people during this challenging time.

Additionally, Mann announced that a special Girdawari has been ordered to assess the losses incurred due to the floods. He instructed officials to conduct the Girdawari fairly to ensure accurate compensation for affected individuals. The Chief Minister assured the public that the state government is dedicated to compensating every loss suffered due to the floods.
