NEP Orientation & Sensitization Programme to Enhance Research Skills
The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Punjabi University, Patiala, has launched two online courses: a Short-Term Programme on Professional Development for NAAC and IQAC Coordinators and an NEP Orientation & Sensitization Programme, aimed at enhancing research skills and academic excellence in higher education institutes. These programs bring together a diverse group of academicians from across India for an immersive online learning experience.
Programme Objectives
The Short-Term Programme on Professional Development for NAAC and IQAC Coordinators focuses on familiarizing faculty and administrators with the latest NAAC guidelines and the Assessment & Accreditation framework, fostering a culture of institutional quality. The NEP Orientation & Sensitization Programme aligns with the transformative vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aiming to reshape India’s education system through holistic, flexible, and multidisciplinary approaches to meet 21st-century demands.
Leadership and Coordination
Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director of MMTTC and Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support. He welcomed Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice-Chancellor, along with Course Coordinators Dr. Rakesh Kumar (Professor, Department of Mathematics) for the NAAC and IQAC programme, Dr. Ajita (Professor, Department of Sports Science) for the NEP programme, and Co-coordinator Dr. Sikander Singh (Department of Computer Science and Engineering), as well as all participants. Dr. Maini highlighted that sessions will feature eminent experts from reputed institutions, ensuring high-quality learning aligned with UGC-MMTTC guidelines.
Vice-Chancellor’s Address
Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh emphasized the significance of both programs. He described the NAAC and IQAC programme as a critical tool for institutional quality, with IQAC Coordinators serving as torchbearers of excellence, innovation, and accountability. Regarding the NEP 2020, he noted its focus on shifting from rote learning to a holistic, student-centric, and technology-integrated education system, emphasizing faculty capacity building and academic autonomy. He urged coordinators and educators to implement these reforms with dedication.
Coordinator Insights
Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Coordinator of the NAAC and IQAC programme, called for building a community of educators committed to excellence, empathy, and lifelong learning, underscoring the importance of such professional development initiatives. Dr. Ajita, Coordinator of the NEP programme, highlighted its role in fostering a research-oriented mindset and strengthening scientific inquiry, with interactive sessions and practical demonstrations to enrich the learning experience.
