United Forces: Punjab Police and Army’s Flood Rescue Over 7,600 People Success

Chandigarh, August 29

As heavy rainfall in the catchment areas continues to swell the Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, and Ujh rivers, Punjab Police, in coordination with the Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Civil Administration, have evacuated 7,689 people from flood-affected regions to safer locations, announced Special Director General of Police (Special DGP) Law and Order Arpit Shukla on Friday.

The affected districts include Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Fazilka, and Ferozepur.

Special DGP Arpit Shukla, who is personally overseeing the situation, stated that Punjab Police has established relief camps in flood-hit areas, organizing food and medicine langars for evacuees and providing cattle fodder for livestock. “Drones are being utilized to locate people for evacuation and to deliver food packets and essential supplies,” he added.

He further noted that 20 Indian Army helicopters are stationed in Punjab to facilitate the evacuation and relocation of people to safer areas.
