Punjab Shikhya Kranti: Principals Head to Singapore for World-Class Training – CM Mann

Chandigarh, March 7

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwanth Mann today flagged off the eighth batch of 30 government school principals for advanced training at the Principal Academy in Singapore. The initiative aims to expose school heads to cutting-edge global teaching practices and further strengthen Punjab’s public education system.

Taking to X, the Chief Minister wrote: “Today, another batch of principals from government schools in Punjab departed for Singapore for training. I met them, wished them success, and encouraged them to make the most of this opportunity.”

He added: “Our government’s goal is to ensure that every child in Punjab receives world-class, quality education. In line with this vision, we are continuously providing international-level training to our teachers and principals so they can learn modern methods and strengthen Punjab’s education system. We are not just building schools — we are building an education ecosystem that empowers every child to dream big and achieve their goals.”

Speaking to the media, CM Mann said: “The eighth batch of 30 principals is heading to Singapore from March 8 to 14 for training at the Principal Academy. So far, eight batches — a total of 234 principals and education officers — have been sent for this specialised programme. A transparent selection process was followed, with verification done by District Education Officers.”

He explained: “During the training, principals are introduced to modern teaching practices used internationally. Upon return, they share these best practices with colleagues and students, bringing global standards to Punjab classrooms. This initiative is revitalising the state’s education system, with teachers acting as true agents of change to deliver quality education.”

Highlighting student achievements, the Chief Minister said: “It is a matter of immense pride that Punjab has topped the National Achievement Survey conducted by the Government of India, even surpassing Kerala. Our government is providing specialised coaching for competitive exams like NEET, JEE, CLAT, NIFT, and Armed Forces preparation. Around 300 students from Schools of Eminence and other government schools have qualified for JEE Mains, JEE Advanced, and NEET. The AAP government is fully committed to strengthening education in government schools.”

He further remarked: “In the times ahead, true wealth will be measured not by money, but by the education our children receive. That is why we are focused on quality education for every child. On the eve of International Women’s Day, it is heartening that a farmer’s daughter from Punjab secured the 15th rank in the UPSC exam. Our government is giving wings to the daughters of Punjab so they can excel in every field.”

On other issues, CM Mann announced: “March 20 will be a historic day for Punjab as Tata Steel begins operations at its second-largest plant in India, set up at a cost of ₹3,200 crore. This will create thousands of jobs for our youth and give a major boost to the state’s economy.”

Regarding Punjabis stranded in the Middle East amid regional conflict, he said: “So far, 385 Punjabis have been identified as stranded — around 300 in the UAE and the rest in other countries. The state government is regularly coordinating with the Centre to ensure their safe return.”

Taking a sharp dig at the Centre over US remarks on India’s oil purchases from Russia, he quipped: “Those who once boasted India would become ‘Vishav Guru’ (world leader) have instead turned it into ‘Vishav Chela’ (world disciple), with the US dictating terms to our country. It is unfortunate that India’s foreign policy and sovereignty appear compromised.”

The Chief Minister also declared strong opposition to the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2025: “This is a clear attempt by the Union Government to encroach on state rights. Electricity, health, and education are state subjects — the Centre has no business interfering.”

Criticising the Congress boycott of the Governor’s address, he said: “Some so-called seasoned politicians are resorting to drama for media attention because they cannot digest Punjab’s progress and prosperity under the AAP government.”

Targeting Akali leader Sukhbir Singh Badal, CM Mann remarked: “Sukhbir Singh Badal is living in a fool’s paradise, building castles in the air to mislead people. Punjabis know their past record well and will never give them another chance to ruin the state.”

Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
