-Visits Bikram Singh Majithia with Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Ganieve Kaur Majithia in New District Jail
-Says Majithia is in ‘Chardi Kala’ and has emerged stronger in jail
Nabha, September 26
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal strongly criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for adopting double standards in allowing meetings with undertrials and convicts in Punjab jails.
Accompanied by Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Ganieve Kaur Majithia, the SAD president visited former minister Bikram Singh Majithia at the new district jail in Nabha. He expressed shock at the disparity in treatment, noting that an AAP legislator jailed for molesting a Dalit woman and police officers convicted for staging fake encounters were allowed unrestricted meetings, while significant obstacles were placed in the way of meeting Bikram Majithia, who is only an undertrial.
Speaking to the media, Sukhbir Badal said, “After three months, Bikram Singh Majithia’s family members have finally been allowed to meet him freely.” He highlighted that while AAP-associated convicts faced no restrictions, Majithia’s wife, Ganieve Kaur Majithia, and sister, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, were permitted to meet him only once in three months, and his legal counsel was restricted to just two visits in the same period.

Commenting on Majithia’s condition, Badal stated that the Akali leader remains in ‘Chardi Kala’ (high spirits). He emphasized that those who thought they could break Majithia’s spirit by implicating him in a false case would be disappointed, as “Bikram Majithia has emerged a hundred times stronger, upholding the Akali tradition of bravely resisting tyranny.”
Badal also issued a stern warning to police officers acting as “hatchet men” for the AAP government, particularly targeting Patiala SSP Varun Sharma. He accused Sharma of registering false cases against opposition leaders and engaging in corrupt practices with impunity. Badal warned, “Officers like Varun Sharma will face consequences once AAP is voted out in 2027. We have detailed information on every corrupt activity of his. Those who violate their oath to deliver justice will be held accountable.”
