Punjab Police Busts Trans-Border Narco Syndicate, Seizes Huge Drug Haul

Chandigarh: In a significant blow to the drug trade, the Punjab Police have successfully dismantled a trans-border narco syndicate with the arrest of three individuals, including a key figure identified as Gurbax alias Lala. The police seized 1 kg of methamphetamine (ice), 2.45 kg of heroin, and 520 grams of the precursor chemical pseudoephedrine.

The operation comes amidst the state government’s ongoing war against drugs, as directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. With the disruption of traditional drug supply chains, smugglers are increasingly resorting to manufacturing synthetic drugs like ice using precursor chemicals.

Gurbax alias Lala, the mastermind of the syndicate, was actively involved in procuring precursor chemicals to enhance the potency of heroin and manufacture ice. He was also linked to drug smuggling activities within Amritsar Central Jail.

The other two arrested individuals are Daljit Kaur and Arshdeep, both residents of Chheharta. The police are actively pursuing the kingpin of the syndicate.

This operation highlights the Punjab Police’s commitment to combating the drug menace and safeguarding the state’s youth.  A case FIR no. 115 dated 16/6/24 had been registered under section 21-B of the NDPS act at Police Station Islamabad.
