Punjab’s Public Works and Power Minister, Harbhajan Singh ETO, announced the closure of two toll plazas on the Patiala-Nabha-Malerkotla state highway, effective immediately. This brings the total number of toll plazas closed by the Mann government to 18.
The minister stated that the decision is in line with the government’s commitment to providing financial relief to the people of Punjab amidst rising inflation. The closed toll plazas at Mohrana and Kalyan generated a combined revenue of Rs. 87 lakh per month.
With the closure of these toll plazas, commuters are now saving a total of Rs. 61.67 lakh daily. The Punjab government has eliminated tolls on over 590 km of state highways since coming to power, including prominent routes like Patiala-Samana, Ludhiana-Malerkotla-Sangrur, and Ferozepur-Fazilka.
The minister emphasized the government’s dedication to improving infrastructure while simultaneously providing economic relief to its citizens.
