Chandigarh, August 13

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced on Tuesday that Punjab is witnessing a positive shift as reverse migration begins, with youth choosing to leave foreign lands to pursue government jobs within the state.

While addressing a gathering at the Municipal Bhawan where he distributed appointment letters to 417 youth, the Chief Minister shared that his government has provided jobs to 44,667 young people in various departments. He emphasized that these recruitments have been conducted purely on merit through a transparent process. Mann noted that this transparency has bolstered the youth’s confidence in the state government, leading them to abandon plans to move abroad in favor of preparing for government jobs at home.

The Chief Minister highlighted that all the recruitments were based on merit, with the successful candidates excelling in rigorous competitive exams. From day one, Mann said, his government’s sole agenda has been to empower youth by providing them with government jobs, thereby making them equal partners in the socio-economic growth of both the state and the country.

Mann asserted that this development has dispelled the negativity among the youth, leading to a significant reduction in their desire to emigrate. He questioned why, if his government could provide over 44,000 jobs in just 2.5 years, the same couldn’t have been done in the last 75 years. The Chief Minister criticized previous governments for neglecting the welfare of the youth and allowing the system to deteriorate, which had driven many to seek opportunities abroad.

Mann also took aim at traditional political parties, accusing them of consistently criticizing him while ignoring his government’s achievements. He challenged these parties to acknowledge accomplishments such as the provision of 44,667 government jobs, 300 units of free power, and Rs 1 crore to families of martyrs. Mann asserted that despite criticism from leaders like Partap Singh Bajwa, he remains undeterred in his commitment to Punjab’s welfare.

Targeting the Badal family and Captain Amarinder Singh, the Chief Minister accused them of misusing their prolonged tenure in power for personal gain rather than the public good. He lamented that these leaders prioritized their own interests over the state’s, leading to the collapse of the system in Punjab.

Mann declared that Punjab now has a government of the common man, dedicated to the people’s well-being and the state’s prosperity. He praised the people of Punjab for bringing about a significant change by ousting traditional parties and electing leaders from humble backgrounds, citing Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian’s victory over five-time Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal as an example.

In a sharp remark, Mann noted that those who boasted of ruling Punjab for 25 years are now struggling to muster support from even 25 leaders. He criticized Akali leaders for seeking pardon from Sri Akal Takht Sahib without acknowledging their wrongdoings, asserting that the people of Punjab have wisely rejected these opportunistic leaders who have consistently betrayed the state.
