The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has intensified its anti-corruption drive, arresting 15 government officials and 5 private individuals for accepting bribes in 14 separate cases during July.
A VB spokesperson stated that the bureau is committed to eradicating corruption at all levels. In addition to the arrests, the VB filed chargesheets for eight cases in various courts and registered seven new inquiries into alleged corruption. The bureau also registered nine criminal cases against 19 individuals, including 13 government employees.

The spokesperson further revealed that a Jalandhar court convicted and sentenced Sandeep Mittar, a Junior Assistant at the Improvement Trust Jalandhar, to five years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 20,000 for a bribery offense.
These actions demonstrate the VB’s determination to hold corrupt officials accountable and restore public trust in the government.
