The Lucknow Super Giants have roped in former Indian cricket team pacer Zaheer Khan as their mentor for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The team made this announcement through a social media post.
Zaheer Khan, who made his IPL debut in 2008 and last played in 2017, has been associated with various teams in different capacities post-retirement. He was previously with the Mumbai Indians from 2018 to 2022. With Gautam Gambhir taking up a coaching role with Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2024, the mentor’s position at Lucknow was vacant.

No Changes in Coaching Staff
There will be no changes to the Lucknow Super Giants’ coaching staff. Justin Langer continues as the head coach, while Lance Klusener and Adam Voges are the assistant coaches. Zaheer Khan, in addition to his mentoring role, may also oversee player development programs.

Zaheer Khan’s Impressive Career
Zaheer Khan has had a stellar cricketing career. In 100 IPL matches, he has claimed 102 wickets, with his best bowling figures being 4 for 17 in a single match. He has also represented India in 17 T20Is, taking 17 wickets, and played 200 ODIs, claiming 282 wickets. In Test cricket, Zaheer Khan has an impressive tally of 311 wickets.
