Chandigarh, 13 October
Punjab Police’s NRI Affairs Wing and Cyber Crime Wing, in collaboration with the Protectorate of Emigrants, Chandigarh, have booked 18 more illegal travel agencies in the state. This brings the total number of booked agencies to 43 since August 2024.
These unscrupulous travel agencies were illegally advertising overseas job opportunities on social media without the necessary licenses. The Protectorate of Emigrants had flagged this issue and alerted the authorities.

ADGP NRI Affairs Praveen K Sinha urged citizens to exercise caution and verify the credentials of travel agencies before engaging their services. He emphasized the importance of dealing only with agencies that hold valid Recruiting Agent (RA) licenses issued under the Emigration Act, 1983.
