Chandigarh/Jalandhar, October 25: The Punjab Police is taking significant steps to improve public engagement and strengthen community ties through its “Sehyog” program.
Key Initiatives:
- CPs/SSPs to Hold Public Meetings: Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) will visit villages and neighborhoods to hold public meetings, gathering feedback directly from residents.
- DGP’s Ground-Zero Tours: DGP Gaurav Yadav is conducting ongoing visits across the state to understand local concerns and engage with communities. He recently attended a public meeting in Jalandhar as part of the “Sehyog” program.
- Focus on Technology: The Punjab Police is embracing technology to enhance public safety. Jalandhar’s futuristic Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) provides access to over 6,000 CCTV cameras, leading to a faster PCR response time and improved coordination between agencies.
- Mandated Video Recording: As per the new Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) law, the Punjab Police is actively using the E-Sakshya mobile app to record videos at crime scenes.
- PGD Portal Success: The online Public Grievances Redressal (PGD) portal launched in July 2022 has received a positive response. Over 4.10 lakh complaints have been successfully addressed out of the 4.5 lakh received.

- DGP Yadav emphasized the zero-tolerance policy against corrupt officials within the department.
- He inaugurated the newly constructed Gazetted Officers’ Mess at Police Lines, Jalandhar.
- He conducted a surprise visit to Rama Mandi Police Station to assess facilities and interact with personnel.
