Now, elections in Punjab will be held on the 20th instead of the 13th
Chandigarh/Patiala, 04 November
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to postpone the by-elections for four constituencies in Punjab. The elections, originally scheduled for November 13th, 2024, will now be held on November 20th, 2024.

The decision was made to avoid clashes with major social and religious events that could potentially impact voter turnout and logistical arrangements.
The affected constituencies are:
- 10-Dera Baba Nanak
- 44-Chabbewal (SC)
- 84-Gidderbaha
- 103-Baranala
The counting of votes will now take place on November 23rd, 2024, and the completion of the electoral process is scheduled for November 25th, 2024.
