The Punjab State Election Commission (SEC) has announced a schedule for revising electoral rolls for upcoming elections in the state. This revision process applies to:
- General Elections for five Municipal Corporations: Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, and Phagwara.
- General Elections for 43 Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats.
- 52 Bye-elections to various municipalities.
Key Dates:
- November 14, 2024: Publication of draft electoral rolls by Electoral Registration Officers.
- November 18-25, 2024: Period for filing claims and objections regarding voter registration.
- December 3, 2024: Disposal of claims and objections.
- December 7, 2024: Final publication of the electoral roll.
Voter Registration:
- All eligible citizens can register as voters.
- Qualifying date (to be eligible): November 1, 2024.
- Eligibility requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age on the qualifying date.
- Must be an ordinary resident of the locality.
How to Register:
- Download Forms 7 (claim for inclusion), 8 (objection to inclusion), and 9 (objection to entry details) from the Punjab SEC website: https://sec.punjab.gov.in
- Submit completed forms to the Electoral Registration Officer of your municipality.
Special Campaign:

The State Election Commission encourages all eligible residents to register as voters during the claim and objection period. This will ensure your participation in the upcoming municipal elections.

- All Deputy Commissioners (District Election Officers) have been instructed to publicize existing voter lists in municipalities and Electoral Registration Officer offices.
