Indian squash prodigy Anahat Singh, 16, won her ninth PSA Challenger title of the year at the Western India Slam 2024 in Mumbai.

In the final held at the Cricket Club of India courts, the second-seeded Singh defeated top seed and fellow Indian player Akanksha Salunkhe 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 11-8). This victory marks Singh’s first win over Salunkhe (world No. 70) in a PSA event, avenging her quarter-final loss to Salunkhe at the ACE Challenger Tour 12k earlier this year.

Singh also won both the junior and senior national women’s titles this year.
Throughout the Western India Slam, Singh only dropped one game, during her 3-1 semi-final victory over third-seeded Nour Khafagy of Egypt. She also defeated Anjali Semwal and Nirupama Dubey in the quarter-finals and second round, respectively.

In the men’s competition, India’s Veer Chotrani (world No. 87) was eliminated in the semi-finals by Malaysia’s Amneeshenraj Chandaran, who went on to defeat top-seeded Viktor Byrtus of Czechia in the final.
