
Punjab Government to Support 1503 Institutions under Post Matric Scholarship Scheme
Parents Encouraged to Submit Income Certificates to Access Benefits
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann’s Government Focused on Securing a Bright Future for Scheduled Caste Students

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government continues its dedicated efforts toward the welfare of Scheduled Caste (SC) students. In line with this commitment, ₹9.92 crore has been released to 1503 institutions across the state to benefit SC students studying in classes 10+1 and 10+2.
Providing further details, Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities, stated that ₹9.92 crore has been sanctioned to support these institutions. She added that ₹59.34 crore out of the allocated ₹92.00 crore has already been disbursed to 256 institutions, with efforts underway to clear the remaining payments promptly.

Dr. Baljit Kaur explained that under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Students, ₹92.00 crore was designated for fee reimbursement (40%) for the academic years 2017-18 to 2019-20. This scheme has supported SC students from government institutions as well as Punjab students studying outside the state.
The minister urged parents to ensure the timely submission of income certificates to maximize the benefits of this scholarship scheme.
For the academic year 2024-25, Dr. Baljit Kaur announced that the Punjab government has earmarked ₹245.00 crore under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme to provide financial aid to SC students.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, she emphasized that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s administration is dedicated to the upliftment of all sections of society while prioritizing a promising future for Scheduled Caste students.
Dr. Baljit Kaur also noted that all financial assistance is transferred directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
