Punjab Animal Husbandry Department Launches YouTube Channel for Expert Animal Care Advice

Chandigarh, January 3
The Punjab Animal Husbandry Department has launched its official YouTube channel and Facebook page, “Animal Husbandry Department, Punjab,” to provide livestock farmers with easy access to expert advice on animal care and management. The initiative was launched by Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian.
Key Features of the Digital Initiative:
- Expert Live Sessions: Every Monday, experts will host live sessions on the platforms to address farmers’ questions and provide guidance on best practices.
- Comprehensive Information: The platforms will cover a wide range of topics, including:
- Daily animal care routines
- Vaccination schedules
- Biosecurity measures
- Livestock disease prevention and control
- Optimal animal feeding practices
- Clinical signs of common livestock diseases
- Prevention of zoonotic diseases
- Available laboratory tests at District Polyclinics and the Animal Health Institute in Jalandhar
- Seasonal advice on issues like summer stress, calving season, deworming, parasitic diseases, mastitis, brucellosis, repeat breeding, and other economically significant problems.
- Regular Content Updates: The department plans to post 4-5 videos per week to keep livestock owners informed.
Minister Khudian emphasized that the initiative aims to promote more economical and ethical livestock farming practices in Punjab by improving communication and access to accurate information. He encouraged livestock farmers to actively participate in the live sessions.

Principal Secretary of the Animal Husbandry Department, Mr. Rahul Bhandari, informed the Minister that regular online sessions with experts will be organized for the livestock farmers.
Director Animal Husbandry Dr. GS Bedi, Deputy Director Dr. Bikramjit Singh, Assistant Directors Dr. Parampal Singh and Dr. Lakhwinder Singh, and other senior department officials were present at the launch.
