-Preparations for the 76th Republic Day Event Complete: Dr. Preeti Yadav
Patiala, January 24:
On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will hoist the national flag at the Polo Ground in Patiala during the official celebrations. This information was shared by Patiala Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav after reviewing the full-dress rehearsal of the event alongside SSP Dr. Nanak Singh. She stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will also inspect the parade, deliver a message to the people of Punjab, and take the salute at the grand march-past.
The full-dress rehearsal was attended by ADGP SPS Parmar and Patiala Range DIG Mandeep Singh Sidhu. According to the Deputy Commissioner, the parade will feature 12 contingents, including the ITBP as the lead contingent, followed by three PAP Jalandhar units, male and female contingents of the Patiala District Police, Home Guards, and NCC groups such as Air Wing, Army Wing, Girls Battalion, and others. Bands from institutions like Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur, and the 1st IRB Patiala will also participate. Parade Commander ASP Dr. Vineet Ahlawat (IPS) will lead the parade.
After the march-past, 10 floats representing various government departments’ development works will be showcased. School students will present cultural programs. Participants will include students from Victoria Girls Senior Secondary School, Government Model Schools, and Mukat Public School, Rajpura. Activities will include cultural performances, gatka (a traditional Sikh martial art), and sports displays organized by the Sports Department.
Students from various schools, including Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Government Multipurpose Senior Secondary School, and others, will perform giddha (traditional Punjabi dance). Meanwhile, students from institutions such as the School of Eminence, Government Multipurpose Smart School, and Mahindra College will present bhangra performances.
Dr. Preeti Yadav mentioned that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will honor freedom fighters and their families, as well as the families of martyred soldiers such as Shaheed Sipahi Bhupinder Singh, Shaheed Gunner Amrik Singh, Shaheed Naik Rajwinder Singh, Shaheed Havildar Mukhtiar Singh, and Shaheed Naik Harjinder Singh. The Chief Minister will also distribute electronic tricycles and sewing machines to the needy. Additionally, individuals who have excelled in various fields will be recognized for their achievements.
Awards will also be given to parade contingents, float participants, school children, cultural teams, and band leaders. The ceremony will conclude with the National Anthem. SSP Dr. Nanak Singh confirmed that robust security arrangements have been made for the Republic Day celebrations.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Yadav emphasized that all preparations for the event are complete and urged district officials to ensure their departments’ full participation. She also encouraged the residents of Patiala to attend the celebrations in large numbers to make the event a grand success.
