Rohit Sharma Named Men’s T20I Team Captain; Arshdeep Singh Bags Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year
Rohit Sharma and Arshdeep Singh, key members of India’s victorious T20 World Cup squad last year, claimed top honours at the ICC Awards 2024 announced on Saturday.
Rohit Sharma was appointed captain of the ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year 2024, while Arshdeep Singh was named the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2024.

The winners were selected through a voting process by the ICC Voting Academy, comprising global media representatives and cricket fans worldwide.
Arshdeep Singh joined teammates Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Rohit Sharma in the ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year, while Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, and Deepti Sharma were featured in the ICC Women’s T20I Team of the Year 2024.
Arshdeep Singh’s Stellar Year
The 25-year-old left-arm pacer played a pivotal role in India’s T20 World Cup triumph, taking 36 wickets in 18 matches at an average of 15.31 and an economy of 7.49 in 2024.
One of his standout performances came during the T20 World Cup group stage against the USA, where he recorded figures of 4/9 in four overs. In the final against South Africa, Arshdeep delivered a crucial spell of 2/20, helping India defend 176 runs.

Rohit Sharma’s Impact
Rohit Sharma, who retired from T20Is after the World Cup, scored 378 runs in 11 matches in 2024 at an average of 42.00 and a strike rate of over 160. His notable performances included three half-centuries, highlighted by a blistering 92 against Australia in the Super Eight stage.
