Paris 2024 Olympian Dhinidhi Desinghu, a 14-year-old swimmer, made a splash at the National Games 2025 in Golapur, Uttarakhand, winning three gold medals and setting a new national record in the women’s 200m freestyle.
Desinghu clocked an impressive 2:03.24 in the 200m freestyle, breaking her own previous record of 2:04.24 set in 2023. She also secured gold in the 100m butterfly (1:03.62) and as part of Karnataka’s winning women’s 4x100m freestyle relay team (4:01.58).

Her remarkable performance follows her success at the 2023 National Games in Goa, where she won seven gold medals, and her participation in the Paris 2024 Olympics as the youngest Indian athlete.
Fellow Olympian Srihari Nataraj also had a successful day, winning gold medals in the men’s 200m freestyle (1:50.57) and the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay. His relay team also set a new National Games record (3:26.26).
In shooting, Vijayveer Singh Sidhu topped the men’s rapid-fire pistol qualification round with a score of 587. However, London 2012 silver medalist Vijay Kumar did not qualify for the final.
The National Games 2025, which began on January 28, will run until February 14.
