India’s U19 women’s cricket team has successfully defended its ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup title with a commanding nine-wicket win over South Africa in the 2025 final held at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.

Chasing a modest target of 83, India got off to a solid start with openers Trisha and Kamalini Gunalan putting together a 36-run partnership. Despite losing Gunalan, India maintained control, with Trisha continuing her strong performance and Sanika Chalke providing valuable support. Trisha’s aggressive batting proved too much for the South African bowlers, and India cruised to victory in just 11.2 overs.

Earlier, South Africa, after winning the toss and electing to bat, struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack. They lost three early wickets and were unable to build momentum. While captain Kayla Reyneke and wicket-keeper Karabo Meso attempted to stabilize the innings, they were dismissed in quick succession, leaving South Africa in trouble. Mieke van Voorst provided some resistance with a few boundaries, but Trisha’s bowling eventually ended her innings. South Africa’s tailenders managed to bat out the 20 overs, but they were ultimately bowled out for a total of just 82 runs.
Brief Score: South Africa 82/10 (20 overs) lost to India 84/1 (11.2 overs) by 9 wickets.
