Amritsar Sound Not a Grenade Blast, Says Police Commissioner

Chandigarh/Amritsar, February 4

Following reports of a loud sound near a disused police post on Fatehgarh Churrian Road in Amritsar, Police Commissioner (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar visited the scene to investigate.

Preliminary findings suggest that the sound was likely not caused by a grenade blast. “The impact is negligible, and first impressions don’t indicate a blast,” stated CP Bhullar. However, he emphasized that all possibilities are being investigated.

CP Bhullar explained that a police checkpoint was located on Fatehgarh Churrian Road near the Amritsar bypass. Officers on duty heard the sound and discovered a small impact mark on the road approximately 20-30 feet from the intersection. He confirmed that the nearby wall was unaffected by the incident. The CP also clarified that the police post in question has been closed for several months.

CP Bhullar urged the public not to panic and cautioned against spreading rumors or creating unnecessary fear.
