Dr. Ravjot Singh Instructs Municipal Corporation Officials to Immediately Utilize Allocated Funds for Development Projects

Chandigarh, February 8
Dr. Ravjot Singh, the Minister of Local Governments, has directed Municipal Corporation officials to promptly use the allocated funds for development works to ensure timely benefits for the public. He emphasized that there is no shortage of funds for these projects.
During a meeting at the Municipal Bhawan, Dr. Singh reviewed ongoing initiatives under various schemes, including the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), Smart City Mission, Punjab Urban Environmental Improvement Program, Punjab Municipal Services Improvement Project, and M.D.F. He urged officials to accelerate the implementation of these projects while maintaining high standards.

Key Directives Issued:
- Effective Implementation of ABC Program: To prevent stray dog bites, Dr. Singh instructed officials to ensure the effective implementation of the Animal Birth Control (ABC) program in all municipal corporations.
- Prevention of Illegal Constructions: To promote planned urban development, Dr. Singh directed officials to strictly prevent illegal constructions. Negligence in this regard will be dealt with severely, and responsible officials will be held accountable.
- Identification of Land for Waste Management: Dr. Singh emphasized the need to identify suitable land for setting up Integrated Solid Waste Management and Bio Gas Plants to address waste management challenges.
- Scientific Waste Disposal: Officials were directed to ensure the scientific disposal of waste and eliminate garbage dumps to maintain cleanliness in cities. Dr. Singh also stressed the importance of daily road and street cleaning and proper maintenance of sewerage systems.
- Transparency and Efficiency in Citizen Services: To enhance transparency and efficiency, all complaints and service requests will be processed through the Punjab Government’s mSeva platform. Dr. Singh emphasized adherence to prescribed timelines for essential municipal services and improved monitoring of the lighting system through regular data updates via the Street Light Portal.
Dr. Singh assured that additional funds would be provided to urban local bodies (ULBs) upon submission of complete proposals to the Head Office.
