MP Malvinder Kang – Justice Delayed but Not Denied

Chandigarh, February 12:
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has expressed its gratitude to the Rouse Avenue Court for convicting Congress leader and former MP Sajjan Kumar in a case related to the 1984 Sikh riots. The party also extended its support to the families who suffered as a result of the tragic events.

AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang asserted that Sajjan Kumar’s conviction unequivocally proves his guilt in the 1984 Sikh riots, which he claims were orchestrated with the backing of the Congress party. “This verdict has rekindled hope for justice among the victimized families,” Kang stated.

While acknowledging that justice has taken decades to arrive, Kang praised the court’s decision as a significant step toward restoring public faith in the judicial system. He further emphasized his expectation that other culprits involved in the riots will soon be brought to justice and that Sajjan Kumar should receive the harshest punishment possible.

It is important to remember that on November 1, 1984, a father and his son were killed in the Saraswati Vihar area—a case that has long haunted the collective memory of those affected by the riots. In connection with this case, Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court convicted Sajjan Kumar on Wednesday. Sajjan Kumar, who has been in jail for the past six years, was brought to court from prison, and his final sentence is expected to be pronounced on February 18.
