ADVOCATES SEPARATE TENDERS FOR Rs 418.30 CRORE PRESTIGIOUS INSTITUTE AND HOSPITAL PROJECT

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Tuesday, instructed officials to prioritize the swift and timely completion of the Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences and Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur.
During a review meeting held at his official residence to assess the progress of the proposed institute and hospital, the Chief Minister emphasized that the project is designed to deliver top-quality healthcare to the public. Spanning 21.41 acres, the Rs 418.30 crore development will feature a 300-bed hospital and a medical college with an annual intake of 150 students. Mann highlighted that the state-of-the-art hospital, located at the existing Medical Hospital Campus in Hoshiarpur, will include two basements, a ground floor plus eight additional floors, and a dedicated service floor.

The Chief Minister further detailed that the medical college will boast an auditorium and service blocks, structured with two basements and ground plus six floors. Separate hostels for boys and girls will also be constructed, with provisions for future expansion to meet evolving needs. To fast-track construction, Mann proposed issuing separate tenders for the medical college and civil hospital components.
Stressing the urgency of the project, the Chief Minister noted that expediting construction is critical to ensuring quality healthcare access for the Kandi region’s residents. He urged officials to allocate and execute the work in a time-bound manner, emphasizing efficiency and speed.
