Chandigarh/Fazilka, 20 March

In a powerful crackdown on drug trafficking, the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has unleashed its bulldozers on the illegal properties of two notorious drug peddlers, Rani and Bagga, in Mandi Arniwala, Fazilka. The operation, spearheaded by SSP Varinder Singh Brar alongside the civil administration, delivered a resounding blow to the drug trade plaguing the region.

Rani, already infamous with three drug-related FIRs against her, and Bagga, a key player in the local drug network, watched as their illicit constructions were reduced to rubble. This demolition marks a pivotal moment in the state’s War Against Drugs campaign, which has transformed into a people’s movement. Residents are stepping up, fearlessly sharing tips about drug traffickers with the police, bolstered by the assurance of confidentiality.

Since the campaign kicked off on March 1, 2025, the results speak volumes:

  • 76 drug trafficking cases registered in just 19 days.
  • 111 accused arrested and locked up.
  • Seizures include 2.383 kg of heroin, 575,585 Pregabalin capsules, 23,279 intoxicating tablets, 7.5 kg of poppy husk, and ₹52,000 in drug money.

This isn’t the first time the government has flexed its muscles—earlier, another trafficker’s property met the same fate in Fazilka. The message is loud and clear: those poisoning Punjab’s communities will face unrelenting action. Local residents have cheered the move, praising the government’s iron-fisted stance against the drug menace.

The war on drugs is heating up, and Punjab is fighting back—hard.
