Organization of World Health Day

N.S.S Unit and Red Ribbon Club of Mata Sahib Kaur Khalsa Girls College of Education,
Dhamomajra, Patiala being run under the Management of Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak
Committee, Sri Amritsar Sahib, in collaboration with District Health Department, Patiala
organized a District Level Awareness Seminar on occasion of World Health Day in the college
campus on the theme ” My Health , My Right”. Dr. Jagpalinder Singh (Civil Surgeon, Patiala)
was the Chief Guest on this ocassion. Dr. Sumeet Singh ( Epidemiologist, Distt. Patiala) and Dr.
S.J Singh (Distt. Family Welfare Officer ) were the speakers of the day. While welcoming the
Guests, College Principal, Dr. Harmeet Kaur Anand said that being healthy should be part of
your overall life style. She further added that living a healthy life style can help to prevent
chronic diseases and long term illness. She said that feeling good about your self is important for
your self esteem and self image. Dr. Jagpalinder Singh in his address said that World Health Day
is celebrated to raise awareness about global health issues and highlight the importance of well-
being. He further added that people from around the globe celebrate this day to promote a
healthier lifestyle and healthier world for everyone. In his address Dr. S.J. Singh highlighted the
Government schemes and facilities being provided for maternal health of the women. Dr. Sumeet
Singh while addressing the students pinpointed that good mental health is equally important as
good physical health. So we must pay our attention towards sound mental health also. On this
occasion painting competition was organised for the students and prizes were given to the first,
second and third position holders. Dr. Sukhwinderjit Singh ( Distt. Family Welfare Officer), Dr.
Divjyot Singh ( Distt. Epidemiologist), S. Bhag Singh (Deputy Mass Media Officer), Ms. Jasjeet
Kaur (Deputy Mass Media Officer), Ms. Jasbir Kaur ( Distt. B.C.C. Coordinator) and all the
staff members were present on this occasion. In the end, Dr. Gurwinder Kaur (N.S.S.
Programme Officer) thanked the guests.
