The Sports Authority of India’s Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS) in Patiala proudly hosted the inauguration of the International Conference on “Harmonizing Movement: Integrating Yoga with Sports Science for Peak Performance” on March 21, 2025. This two-day event brings together a diverse group of experts to explore how yoga can be seamlessly integrated with sports science to elevate athletic performance and promote holistic well-being.

A Grand Inauguration

The conference kicked off with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp, led by Sujata Chaturvedi, Director General of the Sports Authority of India, and Dr. Shobhit Jain, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. They were joined by an impressive lineup of national and international yoga experts and scientists, including Dr. Satbir Singh Khalsa, Associate Professor at Harvard University, USA, and Dr. Jaideep Arya, Secretary General of Yogasana Bharat and Chairman of World Yogasana. Their presence underscored the event’s global significance and its focus on bridging traditional practices with modern science.

A Warm Welcome

Vineet Kumar, Senior Executive Director of NSNIS Patiala, extended a heartfelt welcome to all attendees, setting an inviting tone for the gathering. The conference attracted approximately 250 participants and featured around 35 esteemed speakers, representing a rich blend of expertise in sports science, yoga, and athletic training.
