Since its introduction in 2009, the Super Over has become a thrilling tie-breaker in the Indian Premier League (IPL), deciding the outcome of 15 matches to date. The first-ever IPL Super Over occurred between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2009, setting the stage for this high-stakes format akin to football’s penalty shootout. Super Over Rules
A Super Over is employed when an IPL match ends in a tie, with both teams scoring the same number of runs after their allotted overs. The rules are as follows:

- If two wickets fall, the batting team’s Super Over ends, even if fewer than six balls are bowled.

Before 2019, if a Super Over was tied, the team with more boundaries in the match (including the Super Over) was declared the winner. Post-2019, following the controversial boundary countback in the 2019 ODI World Cup final, the rule was amended to allow multiple Super Overs until a winner emerges.

First IPL Super Over: KKR vs RR (2009)
The inaugural IPL Super Over took place in 2009 in Cape Town between KKR and RR. RR posted 150/6, and KKR, needing seven runs in the final over with four wickets in hand, were restricted to 150/8 by Kamran Khan’s tight bowling, resulting in a tie. In the Super Over:
