The Department of Forensic Science at Punjabi University, Patiala, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Forensic Services, Junga, Shimla Hills, Himachal Pradesh. The MoU was formally signed today at Punjabi University, Patiala, by representatives of both institutions. Dr. Sanjiv Puri, Registrar of Punjabi University, and Dr. Meenakshi Mahajan, Director of the Directorate of Forensic Services, Junga, Shimla Hills, signed the agreement in the presence of Dr. Komal Saini (Professor and Head), Dr. Rajinder Singh (Professor), and Dr. Mukesh Kumar Thakar (Professor, Retired) from Punjabi University.
Dr. Sanjiv Puri emphasized the growing importance of forensic science in conducting scientific investigations. He highlighted that the MoU, focused on education, training, and research, will benefit both institutions. Students from Punjabi University will gain access to advanced equipment and expertise at the Directorate of Forensic Services, enabling cutting-edge research. In turn, the Directorate will expand its research scope through collaboration with Punjabi University’s faculty.

Dr. Meenakshi Mahajan expressed pride in partnering with Punjabi University, home to India’s second-oldest forensic science department offering specialized courses. She noted that the Directorate of Forensic Services, Junga, plays a key role in solving crime cases, providing students with opportunities to study real-time crime exhibits. This MoU will enhance the capabilities of both institutions, fostering innovation and practical learning in forensic science.
