In response to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Punjab Government has heightened the preparedness of its Fire and Emergency Services to ensure robust response capabilities.
Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh has issued stringent orders, cancelling all leaves for Fire Brigade personnel and mandating round-the-clock deployment at critical locations across Punjab. Highlighting the vital role of the Fire Brigade during emergencies like war, he directed officials to conduct mock drills, verify the functionality of all equipment, and maintain constant coordination with Army authorities for rapid response. Officials have been instructed to remain on high alert, keeping their mobile phones active at all times.
Dr. Ravjot Singh emphasized that the Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is fully dedicated to public safety and has mobilized all necessary resources to manage any crisis effectively.
To facilitate swift action, the Minister has instructed Fire Brigade officials to work closely with Deputy Commissioners to strategically position fire tenders for immediate deployment. Regular preparedness reviews must be conducted, and all arrangements expedited.
Reassuring the public, Dr. Singh stated that the situation is under control and urged citizens to remain calm. He directed officials to refer to National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) manuals to ensure timely and efficient relief operations. Additionally, local vehicle repair workshops will be engaged to provide emergency maintenance services, including during nighttime, if needed.

Dr. Ravjot Singh announced that Cabinet Ministers will personally visit hospitals and Fire Brigade stations to evaluate readiness.
Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Tejvir Singh underscored the department’s responsibility, calling for professional dedication in delivering effective services. He noted that the department is equipped with modern firefighting tools but urged officials to promptly report any additional needs. A written duty roster must be maintained to ensure accountability.
