AMRITSAR/CHANDIGARH, August 7
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) received a significant boost today as numerous prominent sarpanchs and gram panchayat members from the Majitha Assembly constituency joined the party. AAP Punjab President Aman Arora welcomed the leaders, joined by former minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and senior leader Talvir Singh Gill. This significant influx strengthens AAP’s grassroots presence in the region.
Welcoming the sarpanchs, Aman Arora stated that this wave of support from grassroots leaders proves that people have lost faith in traditional parties like the Akali Dal and Congress. He emphasized that under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, people see hope in AAP’s honest politics and people-centric governance.
Among the prominent Congress leaders joining AAP are sarpanchs Gurjant Singh (former sarpanch, Uddoke Khurd), Prem Singh Soni (former sarpanch, Kathu Nangal), Sheetal Singh (sarpanch, Chachowali), Jobanjit Singh (sarpanch, Dudhala), Svinder Singh Shinda (sarpanch, Chhatiwind Lahil), Amandeep Singh (sarpanch, Kotla Khurd/Khushipur), Ravinderpal Singh (sarpanch, Hadayatpura), and Jaspal Singh (sarpanch, Bathu Chak). From the Shiromani Akali Dal, those joining include former sarpanch Inder Singh (Uddoke Kalan), former sarpanch Bawa Singh (Abdal), former sarpanch Jagwant Singh (Dudhala), and sarpanchs Jatinder Singh (Talwandi Dasunda Singh), Harjinder Singh Pappu (Rupowali Khurd), Gunup Singh (Pandher Khurd), Natha Singh (Panwan), Arbinder Singh (Sihnewali), Dharam Singh (Burj Nau Abad), Amarjit Singh (Kaler Mangat), Bibi Aman (wife of Surinder Kumar, Tarpai), Prakash Singh (Kotla Saidan), Harbhaj Singh (Sarhala), Bibi Manjit Kaur (wife of Lakha Singh, Jhande), Sarbjit Singh (son of Yograj Singh, Sadhpur), Lakhwinder Singh (Marari Khurd), Sukhdev Singh (Pandher Kalan), Nirmala (Glowali Colony), Gurpreet Singh Manana (Madhipur), Manjit Singh (Budha Theh), Balraj Singh (Saran), and Shansher Singh (Gosal Nahirwala). Aman Arora warmly welcomed the sarpanchs under Talvir Singh Gill’s leadership, stating, “This is your home.” He assured that AAP respects, values, and empowers grassroots leaders. Arora urged them to work with Talvir Gill and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to advance the mission of honest politics and people-centric governance. “This is your party, your platform. Lead with integrity, and AAP will stand with you at every step,” he said.
Addressing a rally, Arora thanked the people of Majitha and reaffirmed AAP’s commitment to transparent governance and development under Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann. He praised transformative changes in Punjab’s healthcare, education, and agriculture sectors, citing achievements like uninterrupted power supply, canal water reaching fields, merit-based government job appointments without bribes, and addressing long-pending issues like SYL water distribution.
Arora criticized previous governments for neglecting the sacred and strategically vital Majha region, emphasizing its historical and symbolic significance. He stated that true leadership comes from fighting for people, not personal gain. Introducing Talvir Singh Gill as AAP’s face and representative in Majitha, Arora entrusted him with party and government responsibilities. He urged people to support Gill as a “true commander of the people,” leading with trust rather than fear or bias.
Arora made an impassioned plea for unity and strength in Majha to surpass the support received from Malwa in 2022. He expressed hope that this sacred land of Guru Sahib and Baba Budha Ji would reclaim its rightful place in Punjab’s political and developmental leadership, assuring that success follows when intent and policy are pure.
Talvir Singh Gill thanked Aman Arora for his unwavering support, stating that the sarpanchs joined AAP inspired by Bhagwant Mann’s exemplary and people-centric governance. He added that this support from Majitha would strengthen AAP’s fight for development and justice in the region.
