In response to the heavy rainfall and ongoing flood situation in Punjab, the state government has decided to keep all educational institutions—including government, aided, recognized, and private schools, colleges, universities, and polytechnic institutes—closed until September 7, 2025, announced Education Minister Harjot Bains on Wednesday.

The decision follows directives from Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann to prioritize the safety and well-being of students and staff, Bains stated, emphasizing that the state government is working relentlessly to address the flood’s impact and safeguard citizens’ welfare.
Given the current circumstances, Bains urged all citizens to strictly follow the guidelines and instructions issued by the local administration and state government. He also called for public cooperation and adherence to necessary safety precautions.
