Health Minister Flags Off Relief Convoy on Behalf of Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann
Patiala’s Humanitarian Spirit Shines in Support of Devastated Areas: Dr. Balbir Singh

In a continued effort to support families affected by recent floods, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh flagged off 16 trucks carrying essential relief materials from Patiala on behalf of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The consignment, organized with the dedicated efforts of the Rice Millers’ Association, includes silage for livestock, 5,000 ration kits with essential food supplies, medical kits, oral rehydration salts (ORS), drinking water bottles, mosquito repellents, and other daily necessities. These trucks are primarily headed to the severely flood-affected border districts of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, and other impacted areas.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Balbir Singh highlighted the compassionate spirit of Punjab, where communities unite to support those in greater need despite facing their own challenges. He noted that Patiala, itself affected by flooding, has exemplified solidarity by extending aid to the worst-hit districts. “This act of generosity reflects the core values of humanity and brotherhood that define Punjab,” he stated.

Dr. Balbir Singh praised the Rice Millers’ Association for their significant contribution in arranging the 16-truck relief convoy during this critical time. He also acknowledged the support of Punjab Mandi Board Chairman S. Harchand Singh Barsat, Director of Food and Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Patiala Dr. Preeti Yadav, Chairman Punjab and President All India Rice Miller Association Tarsem Saini, and the district administration for their pivotal roles in coordinating relief efforts and ensuring timely assistance.
The Health Minister emphasized that under Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, the Punjab Government is tirelessly implementing immediate relief and long-term recovery measures. These include mobile health camps, veterinary services, food distribution, and rehabilitation packages to alleviate suffering in affected areas. He assured that the government is committed to restoring normalcy, safeguarding livelihoods, and rebuilding resilient communities.
Dr. Balbir Singh called on social and religious organizations, industrialists, and NGOs to continue their support, stressing that collective action is the most effective response to natural calamities. “The floods have tested us, but our unity, compassion, and resolve will ensure we emerge stronger,” he said.
