Kochi, 28 Oct (Sports Desk)
The TATA Women’s Premier League (WPL) Auction 2027 concluded in Kochi, with all five franchises finalising their squads for the fifth edition of the tournament, scheduled for January 2027. The auction showcased strategic bidding as teams strengthened their line-ups ahead of the new season.
A total of 25 of the 27 available slots were filled, with franchises making key additions to their squads while managing their remaining budgets.
Sophie Molineux Becomes the Most Expensive Player
UP Warriorz made a significant move by securing Australian spin-bowling all-rounder Sophie Molineux for ₹1.10 crore, making her the only player to cross the ₹1 crore mark in the auction.
Indian middle-order batter Kiran Navgire emerged as the most expensive Indian player, joining Delhi Capitals for ₹75 lakh. Her power-hitting ability is expected to add depth to Delhi’s batting line-up.
The auction also produced a historic moment when 15-year-old uncapped Indian talent Uma Kashvi was picked by Delhi Capitals for ₹10 lakh, becoming the youngest player ever selected in WPL history, according to the information provided.
