Successful Completion of MOOCs Training at Punjabi University

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), Punjabi University, Patiala, under the dynamic leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, successfully concluded its six-day Short-Term Course on “MOOCs, Online Courses and Open Educational Resources”.

The programme equipped faculty members from across the country with cutting-edge knowledge and skills in designing, developing and effectively using Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), online learning platforms and Open Educational Resources (OER). Participants explored global trends in digital pedagogy, innovative teaching strategies, ethical use of technology, data privacy and creation of secure, trustworthy and socially responsible digital learning environments.

Valedictory Session

Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director, MMTTC and Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, welcomed the dignitaries and participants. He expressed deep gratitude to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jagdeep Singh for his inspiring leadership and constant encouragement that has been the driving force behind MMTTC’s excellence. Dr. Maini also thanked Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, for his progressive vision and continued collaboration.

In his valedictory address, Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh stressed the need for smart, accessible, safe, responsible and sustainable digital learning ecosystems. He congratulated MMTTC for organising a highly relevant and future-ready course aligned with the evolving landscape of technology-enabled education.

Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Sharma highlighted how digital technologies are transforming education worldwide and emphasised ethical practices, data privacy and secure frameworks in MOOCs to build long-term trust and credibility.

Course Coordinator  Daljit Ami, Director, Educational Multimedia Research Centre, urged participants to apply innovative and ethical approaches in creating digital content while tackling challenges like misinformation and data protection. He proposed the vote of thanks.

Dr. Raman Maini specially acknowledged the outstanding support of the MMTTC team — Dr. Mandeep Singh (Technical Officer-II),  Dyal Dutt, Surinder Singh, Kanta Rani, Mahaveer Singh and  Surinder Kumar — for ensuring flawless execution of the programme.

The course received overwhelming positive feedback from participants, who reaffirmed their commitment to integrating modern digital tools in their teaching. MMTTC reiterated its commitment to continuous faculty development in emerging educational technologies.
