The Election Commission of India (ECI) today officially launched ECINET, its comprehensive one-stop digital platform for all election-related information and services. The launch took place during the India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM) 2026, which is being held from January 21–23, 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The platform was conceptualized by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Shri Gyanesh Kumar together with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi. Its development was first announced in May 2025.
Key Highlights from the Launch:
- CEC Shri Gyanesh Kumar emphasized that ECINET has been developed in strict compliance with Indian laws and is available in 22 scheduled languages plus English. He invited Election Management Bodies (EMBs) from around the world to collaborate with India to develop similar digital platforms tailored to their own legal frameworks and languages.
- Election Commissioner Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu described ECINET as an important tool to strengthen public trust in the Election Commission by ensuring greater transparency, faster decision-making, effective monitoring of all election-related functions, and rapid dissemination of information.
- Election Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi noted that the IICDEM-2026 conference provides a valuable opportunity for EMBs worldwide to learn from global best practices in adopting technology and digital innovations for election management.
- Dr. Seema Khanna, Director General (Information Technology), highlighted that cyber security is one of the foundational pillars of ECINET. She stated that technology is no longer just a support function but a strategic enabler. According to her, ECINET significantly enhances transparency, efficiency, credibility, and public trust in the electoral process.

Development & Performance Highlights
- The beta version was successfully piloted during the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
- Public suggestions were invited before finalizing the platform.
- Since the beta release, ECINET has processed over 10 crore voter registration forms (average of 2.7 lakh forms per day).
- More than 11 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are registered on the platform.
- Over 150 crore documents have been digitized through the platform during the SIR process.
- The platform also provides a seamless mechanism for real-time monitoring of ground-level election functionaries.
ECINET aims to deliver all election-related services and information to citizens, candidates, political parties, and election officials through one secure, user-friendly digital interface.
