On a question about the central budget, Cheema said Punjab has high expectations from it, as the Centre has treated the state unfairly over the past four years. He hoped Prime Minister Narendra Modi would do justice by releasing the pending ₹8,500 crore Rural Development Fund (RDF) in this budget, along with the announced ₹1,600 crore flood compensation and fulfilling Punjab’s proposal for ₹20,000 crore to cover flood damages. Additionally, he urged the release of ₹1,000 crore demanded for compensation to border districts affected during Operation Sindoor amid India-Pakistan tensions to strengthen Punjab’s defense line, and the restoration of MGNREGA for rural laborers.
Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar announced that 1,300 more new buses would be introduced in Punjab for public service. Responding to a query, he said PRTC employees are like family, and the Punjab government is addressing their legitimate demands to provide relief. Congratulating Juneja, Bhullar expressed confidence that he would lead the corporation toward progress. He noted that more government buses are now operating in the state than private ones, and all unauthorized or permit-less buses have been stopped.
Newly appointed Chairman Harpal Juneja thanked AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab In-charge Manish Sisodia, State President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, and Baltej Pannu for the trust placed in him.
