Chandigarh, 04 February

The Punjab State Information Commission has issued a warrant against Kuljit Singh Mangat, the Public Information Officer (PIO) and Assistant Town Planner in the Building Branch (Zone D) of the Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana.

This action was taken during a hearing on February 4, 2026, in connection with an RTI appeal (Case No. 6157 of 2023) filed by Jasvir Singh, a resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, village Bholapur Jhabewal, district Ludhiana.

Commissioner Harpreet Singh Sandhu stated that Kuljit Singh Mangat has failed to appear despite being summoned for four previous hearings in the case. The Commission had also previously issued a show-cause notice for his repeated absences.

Under Section 18(3)(a) of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005, the Commission has now directed the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, to serve the warrant on the PIO and ensure his appearance before the Commission on the next scheduled hearing date: March 11, 2026.
