Chandigarh, February 5
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Punjab, Anindita Mitra, chaired a video conference yesterday with all District Election Officers-cum-Deputy Commissioners (DCs) across the state to assess advancements in electoral roll management.
In the meeting, Mitra evaluated the ongoing voter mapping initiatives and examined district-level progress. The focus was on achieving comprehensive coverage, high accuracy, and prompt updates to electoral data.
The discussion also covered the receipt and processing of electoral forms, with particular attention to addressing issues such as unclear or blurred photographs and invalid/gibberish entries. District authorities were instructed to resolve these cases swiftly and in full compliance with established guidelines.
A thorough review of pending applications on the ERO Net portal took place, where the CEO underscored the importance of ongoing oversight and speedy resolution to uphold the purity and reliability of the electoral rolls.
Mitra highlighted the value of the “Book a Call” facility available on the ECI Net platform. Through this, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) offer callback support to voters, promoting transparent and efficient handling of grievances within set timelines.

Additionally, the meeting addressed concerns related to Demographically Similar Entries (DSE). Districts received directives to conduct meticulous verifications to eliminate duplicates and preserve the distinctiveness of each elector’s record.
This review reflects ongoing efforts to maintain accurate, inclusive, and error-free electoral rolls in Punjab ahead of future elections.
