Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab General Secretary and State Media In-charge Baltej Pannu strongly demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah release Punjab’s pending funds during his visit to the state. Pannu was speaking to the media on the second day of a three-day camp organized at Greenfield Sant Enclave in Patiala to register people under the Chief Minister Health Scheme and issue health cards.
Pannu revealed that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government aims to issue health scheme cards to 65 lakh families across the state, and cards have already been prepared for nearly 15 lakh people so far.
While addressing journalists, Pannu targeted the Central Government, stating that if the Home Minister is coming to Punjab for a rally, he should also bring along the funds withheld by the Centre under schemes like the Rural Development Fund (RDF) and others.
Accusing the Centre of step-motherly treatment towards Punjab, Pannu said the Central Government has always discriminated against the state. He pointed out that on critical issues such as Punjab’s rights over Chandigarh and matters related to Panjab University, the Centre has consistently kept the state entangled. Pannu appealed to the people of Punjab to question Amit Shah about these serious issues during his visit.
He recalled that during the floods, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had personally conducted an aerial survey of Punjab and announced ₹1,600 crore as relief funds, but regrettably, those funds have still not been released to the state even today.
Targeting opposition leaders, Pannu remarked that Sukhpal Singh Khaira has lost his mental balance. Criticizing the Shiromani Akali Dal, he said that during the Akali regime, drugs and gangsterism had reached their peak in Punjab, ruining the state. He added, “Today, Chief Minister Mann’s government is working hard to remove the thorns sown by the Akali Dal and restore Punjab to its glorious ‘Rangla Punjab’ status.”

Baltej Pannu highlighted that on the very first day of the three-day Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026 held in Mohali, leading industrialists announced investment commitments worth ₹10,000 crore in the state — a major achievement for the Mann Government that will further boost business and economic activity in Punjab.
Pannu praised the people-centric welfare schemes being run under Chief Minister Mann’s leadership, including employment generation, sports, education, and health initiatives. He stated that the AAP Government is working day and night for Punjab’s development. Listing the government’s achievements, he emphasized that the current administration is fully committed to strengthening Punjab’s economy and social security.
The event was also attended by Improvement Trust Nabha Chairman Jassi Sohianwala, Megh Chand Shermajra, Gurvinder Singh, and other office-bearers.
