N.S.S Unit and Eco Club of Mata Sahib Kaur Khalsa Girls College of Education,
Dhamomajra, Patiala being run under the aegis of Shiromani Gurudwara
Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar Sahib, in collaboration with Round Glass
Foundation, Patiala organised the World Earth Day on the theme “Planet versus
Plastic”. Dr. Rajneesh Kumar (Product Manager, Round Glass Foundation ,Patiala)
was the Chief Guest on this occasion.
College Principal, Dr. Harmeet Kaur Anand
said that 22nd April is celebrated as ‘World Earth Day’ globally. This day holds
immense significance as a reminder of our collective responsibility to safeguard
the Earth for future generations. It serves as a call to act for individuals,
communities and government to adopt sustainable practices and work towards a
more environmental friendly future. Dr. Rajneesh Kumar while addressing the
students said that the whole world is struggling with the problem of global
warming and the only solution to this problem is to plant more and more trees. He
further added that it is a big challenge for humanity to save the environment from
further degradation and the biggest obstacles in the way is plastic pollution.
Moreover increasing population, water pollution, deforestation etc. are addition to
this. So by celebrating World Earth Day we can bring awareness regarding all such
issues and fulfill our duties as human beings. He further informed about the efforts
being done by the Round Glass Foundation to protect and preserve our
environment. He also motivated the students to plant and preserve trees. S.
Bharpoor Singh (Co-ordinator, Round Glass Foundation, Patiala) and all the staff
members & students were present on this occasion. In the end, Dr. Gurwinder
Kaur (N.S.S. Programme Officer) thanked the guests.
